Site fire cover without a mile of cable

Wireless site fire alarm systems, supplied, positioned and linked so that one call point sets every unit on the site sounding. They go up in an afternoon, they move as the building goes up, and they can be linked back to the control room so an activation out of hours reaches somebody rather than sounding into an empty compound at two in the morning.

What you get

Every site fire alarm system, covered

01

One Goes Off, All Go Off

Units are linked wirelessly, so a call point pressed on the top floor sounds the whole site at once instead of alerting the three people standing next to it.

02

No Cable, No Waiting

Battery powered wireless units go where the risk is and move when the work moves. Nothing is chased in, nothing is wired and nothing has to be re-run next phase.

03

Covering Hot Works and Cabins

Call points and detection put where they are actually needed: hot works areas, cabin groups, stores, drying rooms and the escape routes off the structure.

04

Monitored Out of Hours

Linked back to the control room so an activation at night reaches an operator who can dispatch and call the fire service, rather than sounding to nobody.

Questions

Asked and answered

What is a wireless site fire alarm?

A set of battery powered, radio linked units placed around the site, each with a call point and a sounder and detection where it is wanted. Because they talk to each other, pressing any one of them sets the whole site sounding. On a construction site that is the only sensible approach, because a hard wired system cannot follow a building that changes shape every fortnight.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually an afternoon. The units are positioned, linked, tested together and a site plan produced showing where each one is. Adding units later as the structure grows or moving them as the phase changes is quick, which is exactly why they are used rather than anything fixed.

Can it be monitored overnight?

Yes, and it is worth doing. An alarm sounding on an empty site at three in the morning does nothing on its own. Linked to the control room, an activation reaches an operator who can look at the cameras, call the fire service with a proper description of what they can see and get hold of your people, which is a materially different outcome to somebody discovering it at seven.

Do we still need a fire plan and marshals?

Yes. The alarm is equipment, not a fire strategy. Your principal contractor still needs a fire plan, escape routes, extinguishers, marshals and the hot works procedures that go with them, and the alarm supports all of that. We will place the units to fit the plan you have rather than telling you the plan should fit our kit.

Can we hire rather than buy?

Yes, and hire is what most sites take. It runs month to month alongside whatever else we are covering, the units come off when the job finishes and get serviced and re-tested before they go out again, and nobody is left storing equipment between projects or wondering when it was last checked.

Can the fire alarm and the security system work together?

On a site where we are already monitoring the CCTV, yes, and it is the best reason to put both on one supplier. The same operator sees the fire activation and the camera views at the same moment, which means the call to the fire service comes with information about what is actually burning and whether anybody is on site, rather than being an automated signal from a box.
